Hitomi Watanabe
Towards the end of 1960s, Hitomi Watanabe encountered a group of “tekiya” (street peddlers) marking out spaces on the day before a local festival. While still a photography school student, Watanabe spent four years following and photographing them. After half a century she brings the “Tekiya” series back to life with 30 black and white works featured in this exhibition, followed by a publication under the same title by Jiyusha.
