Artists

Wang Shuye
Born is Heilongjiang, China’s northernmost province, in 1963, Wang Shuye relocated to Japan in 1990 having graduated from what is now known as Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design. He spent the next ten years dedicated to exploring the spiritual through subjects such as religion and philosophy, developing unique forms of expression in is painting that he chose not to exhibit publicly. However, following a solo show in Takashimaya in 2003, he has been regularly presenting his paintings. Here he will introduce paintings where he has simultaneously used both red and black ink for the first time, as well as calligraphic works that give fresh expression to this artist’s spirituality.
