Exhibition and sale of works by Swedish ceramic artist Marianne Hallberg, whose pieces are characterized by playful, sketchy designs that appear to jump off of the flat surfaces of her pottery. Vases and dishes featuring vibrant cobalt blue lines that bleed out suggest a mysterious world view that transcends the boundary between 2D and 3D. Hallberg’s idiosyncratic style of decoration incorporating distorted-looking forms is unique to each work. This exhibition will present designs for chopstick rests, inspired by Japan, and other sketches exploring her ideas, which are displayed here for the first time.
