Gramophone Concert “Jazz Summit (44) - All American Rhythm Section”

Intermediatheque
Finished
A cycle of gramophone concerts is regularly held within the Academia lecture theater at Intermediatheque, offering a concert series that focuses on the Satoshi Yuze record collection, from which famous jazz recordings 1920-1940s are selected. They are played on the illustrious Victrola Credenza and other gramophones, in order to share a quality of sound which has now vanished from public spaces.
In November 1938, Count Basie was about to close his gig with his 14-member band at Midtown’s small club “The Famous Door.” He had just gained nationwide fame thanks to the radio broadcasting of these live sessions. He then entered the recording studio with his rhythm section, deemed the best in America, and recorded jazz piano masterpieces with his quartet. Here, the entire Count Basie at the Piano album will be played, bringing back to the spotlight Basie’s genius as a pianist as well as the apogee of swing he reached with his rhythm section.
