Mitsuhiko Imamori
Photographer Mitsuhiko Imamori has been documenting the “satoyama” around his hometown near Lake Biwa for more than 30 years. Satoyama are agricultural areas between towns and mountains that have been part of the Japanese landscape since ancient times. Imamori considers any space in which humans and nature coexist to be satoyama. His work reminds us of the deep ties between our lives and nature, and that we too are part of these satoyama scenes.
