Haruka Kudo
Haruka Kudo, a graduate of Tokyo University of the Art’s oil painting department, has worked as both an exhibition organizer and an exhibiting artist. Her past works have dealt with what is being discarded and what is escaping this fate in the run-up to Tokyo’s 2020 Olympic Games. Here she grapples with her experience of “eugenic thoughts” after giving birth and a related incident in paintings that explore Japan’s history with eugenics laws and the perspectives of “the murdered.”
