Artists

Tokujin Yoshioka
With his poetic, experimental and nature-inspired works, Tokujin Yoshioka is a designer renowned in the international design, architecture, and contemporary art scenes. His work continues to impact his viewers’ senses through his use of intangible materials such as light, sound, and scent, and he has achieved unique expressions beyond the common notion of form. This exhibition focuses upon glass as the most appropriate medium through which to express the qualities of light. The work on exhibit reflects Japan’s unique concept of nature held within people’s minds and memories. In showing this, the exhibition brings the essence of creativity derived from light and glass closer to viewers. The selection of works ranges from the easily-recognizable “Water Block,” the footage of architecture project “Kou–An Glass Tea House,” and “Rainbow Church,” to his latest works “Glass Watch,” “Prism” ( Dom Pérignon Art Project), and “Rainbow Architecture.”
