The first show in the new YCC Gallery series at YCC Yokohama Creative City Center presenting small-scale art exhibitions is Satoshi Uchiumi’s “Far-Off Paintings.” In pointillist-esque works delicately rendered with brushes and q-tips, the artist unfurls beautiful colors in expansive vistas that seem to transcend the 2D limitations of their medium. Uchiumi, whose work has been in public spaces such as Toranomon Hills and the Palace Hotel Tokyo, now makes special use of the YCC space with a new series of oil paintings on star-shaped canvases.
