Chaosmos 5: To View a World Within a Grain of Sand

Sakura City Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Junko Ikawa, q-rais, Christiane Löhr, Tomoatsu Takase, Mitsuta Haruo
After the museum opened in 1994 it hosted a series projects under the title “Chiba Art Now” with the aim of introducing contemporary art to visitors. The exhibitions were intended to showcase art from Chiba Prefecture and to deepen the understanding of contemporary art that can sometimes be hard to approach. As of 2003, artists have been invited from outside the prefecture in a series of exhibitions named “Chaosmos,” proffering a broader and more objective approach. Chaosmos is a combination of two words: chaos and cosmos. It represents the fusion of various concepts and styles visible in today’s art. This exhibition will introduce works that express their creator’s intentions in a condensed space with limited colors and time frames.
