Takashi Sakai Exhibition “Bartering in the mountains”

The National Museum of Art, Okutama
Finished

Takashi Sakai
Takashi Sakai collects unwanted items and objects that have depreciated in value, taking these things that are considered garbage to some and offering them up to others at sites of “bartering” or “exchange.” There is no handing over of money at these events, but there is a chance for someone to find value in and claim an object that for another is no longer of value. In this way, he explores the meaning of “value” and invites viewers to do the same.
This is rather an unconventional exhibition venue so please be sure to dress in warm clothes.
