Centering on a new installation by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Shiro Takatani, “Is Your Time” follows on from the recent “Ryuichi Sakamoto, async” exhibition at The Watari Museum of Contemporary Art. After encountering a piano in a school in Natori, Miyagi Prefecture devastated by the tsunami following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, Sakamoto sensed the forces of nature had retransformed this representative modern musical instrument into a mere object. Witness how they attempt to retrieve the music by creating occasions for experiencing music in ways other than perceiving physical sounds.
