Kohei Kyomori
Attracted to decorative designs that originate both in Japan and overseas, Kohei Kyomori explores the expression of decorative art in the current age. In the works presented here, he takes Edo Period painter Jakuchu Ito’s work “Saishiki kakizu” as a central motif, reconstructing the design using intricate techniques to produce traditional Japanese folk art and bowl patterns. The flowers that bloom inside the circles are expressed in detail, while the patterns and repeated use of colors suggest the idea of Zen thought.
