Yoshitaka Nanjo
Yoshitaka Nanjo paints landscapes, often incorporating soil taken from the site he is depicting in his work. Nanjo visits his chosen location, observes his surroundings, takes pictures of the scenery that stands out to him, collects soil and then returns to the atelier. He then analyses the landscape, separating it up into various elements, and reconstructs these fragments as a painting. The axis of time is also integrated into his works and their world view, through the suggestion of history and stories of the past, as well as imagined futures. This exhibition, which attempts to visualize a collapse of time, presents expressive landscape works that do not fit into the traditional conventions of the genre.
