In her first solo exhibition for three years, Hiroko Maki will present 12 paintings of varying sizes. Maki began painting after relocating to Tokyo following her graduation from Saga University where she studied copperplate printing. Using techniques learned from printing, her unique approach is to draw out shapes using the point of a water-based marker before adding color thereafter. She her images of women intertwined with organic motifs such as fish and animals, suggesting an interconnectedness between all living things.
