Artists

Akane Nakajima
Born in Tokyo in 1992, Akane Nakajima won the 11th “1_WALL” Graphics Competition Grand Prize and held a solo exhibition at Guardian Garden (Ginza) while still a student at Musashino Art University, Collage of Art and Design, Department of Visual Communication Design. Since graduating she has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions centering in Tokyo as well as produced book illustrations.
Although Nakajima’s work is abstract it gives viewers a sense of the power of life, like the way a plant or living creature does, filled with a charming ambiguity and indecisiveness that transcends words and appeals to raw emotions. This randomly structured exhibition will present a lineup of works that Nakajima has continued to work on over the years, as well as new pieces produced using woodcut techniques. In order to encourage the possibility of various interpretations of her work, the artist herself will replace and rearrange the artworks on display during the exhibition period, allowing them to take on the form of living organisms. A limited number of new prints will be for sale at the venue.
