Painter Takashi Katayama believes free thought has entered a state of rigor mortis in today’s society where we act in line with preordained values on predetermined paths as self-examination, curiosity, and imagination are increasingly lost. He is drawn not to barrages of bland, throw-away images but the overlooked, seemingly meaningless scenes that somehow stir his emotions.
