The post-war era was a time of rapid political and societal change in Japan. During this period, many artistic groups were formed and new trends in art movments emerged one after another. Presented here are activities undertaken by Jikken Kobo (Experimental Workshop) and works by the Gutai group, Chimei Hamada, Kikuji Yamashita, Yasuki Kanayama, Gyoji Nomiyama and others. This exhibition will look back at the trends of the artists endeavoring to produce a new art in the 1950s.
