The color red is an integral part of life in Japan. Since ancient times it has had lucky and celebratory meanings and remains a symbol of the beauty and richness of traditional Japanese culture. This exhibition directed by Takehiko Sanada for the 20th anniversary of the Lifestyle Design Center explores the diverse shades and significances of red in Japanese culture, especially its auspicious meanings in textiles and clothing.
