David Bowie by Mick Rock
This event has ended.
This exhibition will present the fruits of the collaborative partnership between legendary rock star David Bowie, who set the tone for the 1970s with his ground-breaking self-expression, and photographer Mick Rock. After entertaining his followers for more than half a century, Bowie, who is often referred to as the “most influential artist of the 20th century,” passed away in 2016. Rock had been photographing Bowie since the start of his career, alongside other key musicians from the 1970s such as Sid Barrett, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop. Rock first encountered Bowie as his alter-ego Ziggy Stardust landed, sparking the most important period of Bowie’s career. This exhibition will present collaborations by these two men, including numerous photographs of Bowie’s many faces as well as music videos that Rock worked on.
