On its second through fourth floors the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo introduces a selection of 200 masterpieces from its collection of some 13,000 works, the largest collection in Japan.
Organized according to timely themes with fresh lineups of works each time, MOMAT Collection exhibitions are held periodically throughout the year as unique shows with diverse works tracing developments in Japanese art history since the Meiji Period.
This time the MOMAT Collection exhibitions coincides with the Museum Spring Festival (Mar. 25–Apr. 9) and features the vernal paintings “Parting Spring” (Important Cultural Property) by Gyokudo Kawai, “Fine Rain on Mt. Yoshino” by Hobun Kikuchi, and “Spring Evening” by Keigetsu Matsubayashi. All three works are on display through April 16.
