This solo exhibition by Elliott Erwitt is the 60th event to be held at Art Gallery M84. Be it for journalistic essays or advertising shots, Erwitt’s photographs overflow with a humanity that is full of humor and wit. It’s as though the pictures show exactly what it is that the photographer himself saw. Erwitt liked to shoot familiar subjects such as dogs and children as, though they seem inconsequential at first glance, they reveal a universal truth hidden within his pictures. Organized with the cooperation of the Tokyo branch of Magnum Photos, approximately 30 original gelatine silver prints will be presented here, including examples of Erwitt’s signature “dog” works.
