Since the beginning in the 1990s, Vik Muniz has been presenting his work in the form of photographs, as reproductions of famous paintings and news photographs that tell us about history. He experiments with different materials - wires, sugar, diamonds, chocolate, and colored paper – in order to convey his message. Galerie Nichido will present his series “Repro,” which is comprised of scraps from catalogues, advertising and printed materials that have been disseminated by museums and are related to the works in question as well as images obtained from the Internet. Meanwhile, NCA | Nichido Contemporary Art will show his new “Handmade” series, composed of 13 works created through a combination of “real materials” (three-dimensional) and photographs of that very material (two-dimensional).
