This exhibition is a new collaboration between Aomori Museum of Art and Kamata’s new space, Kamata Soko. It will be held one month ahead of the main exhibition to be hosted at Aomori Museum of Art, the concept of which is “rendezvous.” The idea is for artists and creators working in various genres to meet at Aomori Museum of Art, located near the historical Sannai-Maruyama excavation site, and use the unique architecture of the space to create location-specific artworks. Respecting the diversity of the works on show, and the freedom with which they can be interpreted, the exhibition will be organized to appear like an anthology of contemporary culture. This is an opportunity to encounter artworks and the museum space as one, and to get a sense of the connections between museums, exhibitions and works themselves.
