Makoto Ogiso
Makoto Ogiso is an oil painter with a prolific output; there are few artists who continue to produce as many as realistic depictions of subjects as this artist. It can be said, however, that sketches are at the heart of his practice. By sketching repeatedly every day, there are things that become evident to Ogiso. This exhibition will present roughly 30 works taken from among the artist’s depictions of female subjects in the past few years. In these monotone sketch works there is play between light and shadow, white and black gradations, and viewers can enjoy imagining the colors that would have been. Ogiso will also be holding a solo exhibition of oil paintings at the space on Nihonbashi Takashimaya’s 6th floor during the same period.
