A collection of rare sword ornaments made of gold. These highly detailed and ornate gold ornaments become increasingly popular during the Edo period as swords become increasingly decorative. Avid sword ornament collector Meiji period industrialist Toshimo Mitsumura published ‘Tagane no Hana’ a catalog of ornaments. Various themes including fairy tales, the four seasons, demons and monsters are expressed in minute detail in these rare gold ornaments.
