“Takuo Nakamura ≒ Kanazawa Crafts Exhibition” will be held as the 23rd event in the Art colors exhibition series, which celebrates Japan’s four distinct seasons through art.
Kanazawa is a castle town in the Hokuriku region of Japan known as the kingdom of tea ceremony that also happens to be known for its craft products. Their items designed for everyday use have high aesthetic value - something that has continuously been refined since olden times. Meanwhile, the period from “Taisetsu” to “Risshun” - winter to spring in the solar calendar - is a season filled with auspicious days. In this exhibition, you will experience the dignified elegance of winter in Hokuriku region through works by ceramic artist Takuo Nakamura, who embodies the spirit of Kanazawa crafts with a notable freeness. Alongside his works will be examples of those produced by up-and-coming craftspeople and visual artists working in various media who have a connection with Kanazawa.
Enjoy these pieces representing the “Now” of Kanazawa without being bound by the limitations of traditional crafts, and discover Kanazawa’s aesthetic approach, which brings everyday life and beauty ever closer.
