“Art and Glasses Road Show” is the latest in a series of exhibitions featured at Aomori Museum of Art, the Shimane Art Museum, and the Shizuoka Prefectural Museum of Art; these three museums focus not only on art but also science, literature, pop culture, and broader visual culture in Japan. Using “glasses” as its key phrase, this traveling exhibition explores people’s inextinguishable desire to “see,” as observed in art and objects from the 17th century Edo period through today. “Art and Glasses Road Show” will also make a stop at Kamata_Soko, a warehouse gallery in Tokyo’s Ota Ward. Presenting video installations, live performances, lectures, and more, this show about visual expression involves collaborations between artists and Ota neighborhood factories and firms, with Ota culture and technology and Japanese and international arts on full display.
