Artists

Yurie Itokawa
Yurie Itokawa uses transparent colors and reflections to imbue her paintings with light, creating motifs that appear suddenly from shadows onto the surface. In this way, the artist depicts an otherworldly perspective that seems to have fallen into the crevice between the real and unreal. She continues to portray characters from scenes that emerge randomly from vague places in her heart when she ruminates on notes from her everyday life and dreams. Girls, homes, mountains, boats, and constellations are all recurring themes that float and wander through her works. “Arcadia,” referring to pastoral images of paradise, blends Grecian scenes of pleasure and peace with Itokawa’s fanatastical imagery.
