This year, Go Lokal! is delighted to present an exciting collection of lifestyle products (interior and fashion) from twenty-nine Philippine social enterprises – bags, shoes, fashion accessories, home décor, and light fittings that belong in the modern world. The use of design elements, manipulation of materials, and transformation into functional and contemporary objects are enriched by expertise and knowledge gleaned from ancient tradition. Interior items are proudly locally made by communities who combine indigenous materials with natural, up-cycled and recycled materials such as recycled abaca waste, wood scraps, recycled paper and more. The fashion products are handmade, using centuries old weaving, embroidery and beading techniques. Go Lokal! is an invitation for others to appreciate Philippine culture in its many shapes, patterns, colors, texture and styles. The exhibition is a rich, unique and exotic collection of products that define the indigenous culture of the Philippines.
