150 Years of Festivities

3331 Arts Chiyoda
Finished
From the early Edo-period to the later period when the Chiyoda and Central wards would become the centers of urban Edo, the Sanno and Kanda Festivals were especially important to local area. In particular, Hie Shrine, as a major shrine of the Tokugawa Shogunate and home to protector god of the Kojimachi, Nihombashi, Kyobashi, and Ginza neighborhoods would play central role during the festivities in June. The exhibit highlights 150 years of history and culture of the neighborhoods and the festivities that were central to their existence.
