Hozumi Miyamoto
Hozumi Miyamoto’s warmly toned oil paintings evoke sepia photographs and postcards, resulting in unusual perspectives of distance. The people appearing in these works resemble dolls or figurines in a diorama. Miyamoto uses photographs printed on regular paper with insufficient ink to create these works, deepening the relationship between this process and the faded colors on the canvas while rejecting Western traditions of perspective to create a unique sense of space.
