Tomáš Kocka + Alex Selmeci “Running Boy”

Print Gallery Tokyo
Finished

Artists

Tomáš Kocka, Alex Selmeci
Featuring works by Slovakian artists Tomáš Kocka and Alex Selmeci. Both artists were born in 1994 in Kosice, a city in the eastern part of Slovakia, where they majored in painting at an art university. The pair currently forms the unit called “Edger & Ota”, working cooperatively on art/design productions and publications, as well as running an art space. Since their school years, they have created numerous artworks in varied mediums, from graffities, mural wall paintings, to video media art. We will be mainly exhibiting two groups of works. “Light Boxes”; a series of box-shaped paintings with patchy and graphical images, inspired by street advertisement lightboxes.“Unframed Canvas”; a series of “Light Boxes” paintings that were removed from frameworks of lightboxes and presented two-dimensionally. We will also showcase some illustrations that were Risographically printed. The poster for this exhibition was created by multiple artists and designer. First, the Risograph image, made by Tomáš Kocka and Alex Selmeci, was printed. Then, an image layer designed by Toru Kase was lithographically printed on top of the first layer. The lithographic printing was done on a flat-bed proofing press at Kawara Printmaking Laboratory in Tokyo.
