“Emile Gallé: Collecting Nature”

Pola Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Emile Gallé
New Art or Art Nouveau came into vogue in 19th century France. Glass artist Emile Gallé was one of the leaders of this movement that emphasized curved lines inspired by the shapes and forms of plants. The forest with its many plants and insects and the sea with its many creatures had a great effect on the works of Gallé. This exhibition will showcase Gallé’s works from both early and late in his career, highlighting “nature”, both the “forest” and the “sea”, as sources of artistic expression.
