Artists

Tatsuo Kawaguchi
Tatsuo Kawaguchi began the “Relation – Seeds” series in 1982. He originally created his sculptures using plant seeds with copper, but changed the material to lead, a metal impermeable to radiation, after the Chernobyl disaster of 1986. Up through 1990 he continued the series, enclosing seeds with representations of the places he first encountered them (such as tables, fields, and greenhouses) in lead envelopes. Between 1988 and 1989 he created 44 works, some of which have never been shown publically. This exhibition is a rare opportunity to reconsider this well-known series from a fresh perspective.
