Artists

Osamu Tezuka, Shotaro Ishinomori, Sanpei Shirato, Takao Saito, Shigeru Mizuki et al.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the manga magazine Big Comic, which helped the genre forge a new identity as something for adults instead of just for children. This exhibition features around 300 original illustrations, magazine issues, and other materials from throughout the magazine’s run by five of its leading contributors: Osamu Tezuka, Shotaro Ishinomori, Sanpei Shirato, Takao Saito, and Shigeru Mizuki. Footage of interviews with manga artists including Takao Saito and Fujio F. Fujiko about Big Comic will be screened, and visitors can jump into the pages by snapping themselves at special “photo spots.”
