Misa Sudo
Recently artist Misa Sudo has developed an interest in topics such as space travel by ordinary people, methods of communication between outer space and the Earth, and designs for vessels that can carry people and supplies in bulk between the two. As a result, she often searches out space-related news and photographs to use as elements in her art. When doing so, Sudo ponders questions such as, ”What If my family and friends lived in space…? What If I could send data for 3D printing as a present to a friend on a spaceship…? What If I could meet my family in space by spaceship…?”
The theme of this exhibition is “New Discovery.” Taking large PC monitors as a motif, Sudo presents new works produced using pin prick art. On the screen she depicts images of aerial internet sites about space travel, email exchanges between her, residing on earth, and a friend, living in space, and a scene showing her selecting 3D printing data for a friend. Here light passes through holes allowing the viewer to see innumerable stars and images twinkling on the surfaces. In addition, she will exhibit a number of works on paper and a pencil drawing. This is an exhibition that allows you to imagine everyday life in space and consider the difference in distance between the Earth’s surface and space.
