Isamu Noguchi: From Sculpture to Body and Garden

Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery
Finished

Artists

Isamu Noguchi
The son of Japanese poet Yonejiro Noguchi and American journalist Léonie Gilmour, Isamu Noguchi worked in a wide range of creative fields including sculpture, stage art, furniture, lighting, ceramics, and landscape design. This retrospective for Noguchi marking the 30th anniversary of his death explores the relationship between the body and his art, introducing around 80 of his works and other materials surveying his international career. Eight of his early “Peking Drawings” created in his 20s, for which he applied calligraphic ink strokes over paintings of the human form, are exhibited in Japan for the first time.
