Raymond Savignac
Raymond Savignac was a major French poster artist of the 20th century. His style influenced by the art of circuses and spectacles ushered in a new wave of decorative art to the French poster tradition. This show focuses on Savignac’s posters also features his sketches, illustrations, and other works, exploring how posters – originally meant to be displayed in the streets – became a kind of monument for modern cities. The large-scale exhibition traces Savignac’s role in making posters a medium that reflected the spirit of their age.
