Ryuji Hodaka, who once worked as a chef of Japanese cuisine and for the Spanish ambassador, has now made the bold move of becoming a ceramics artist. His aesthetic informed by his experiences in the culinary world have won him critical praise and many fans. Since 2015 he has been carving out designs in a single tea bowl every day for his “One a Day” series. Having presented works in group shows such as “Hyouge Jissaku Extreme Potters Group Exhibition,” a spin-off of the manga “Hyouge Mono,” and “Tensai 108” at Zojoji Temple, Hodaka now unveils a solo show at Paku Paku An.
