The keyword of this exhibition is “spectacles” with the focus on “seeing”. The modern world is full of images, video, lettering, signs, and all sorts of colorful visuals. “Seeing” plays an important role in modern life as is implied by words such as “looking”, “viewing”, “examining”, “observing”, and so on. This exhibition showcases the evolution of eyewear from the Edo period through the development of technologies such as microscopes and telescopes through modern and future technologies such as modern visual art and virtual reality.
