Daiho’onji is an ancient temple that has stood in northern Kyoto since the early 13th century, the beginning of the Kamakura period. This exhibition will feature masterpieces of Kamakura-period sculpture, such as the principle object of worship at Daiho’onji, Gyokai’s Sakyamuni Buddha not usually shown in public, the Ten Major Disciples of Buddha by Kaikei, and the Six Manifestations of Avalokitesvara by Higo Jokei.
