Tamami Iinuma “Momentary Architecture”

Pola Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Tamami Iinuma
Tamami Iinuma’s photographs capture architecture and the surrounding space. For Iinuma, architecture is not merely a lifeless structure but a warm existence comprised of the architect, those involved in creating it, and the memories of all the people who have interacted with the architecture. This philosophy is the basis for sophisticated photographs that evoke a sense of space and memory. This exhibition showcases Iinuma’s new shots from Gora and Sengokuhara in the Hakone area in addition to her previous work. Hakone, with its long history as a hot springs resort has many architectural structures including numerous hotels, Japanese-style inns, and museums. Iinuma captures the “architecture” as it shares space with the deep forests and its trees, the steaming springs, and the ever-present mists of the area.
