Ryo Kawada
Ryo Kawada’s works make reference to Western-style paintings, depicting borrowed motifs in a way that allows viewers to sense the realness of falsehood.
Kawada was born in 1988 in Niigata prefecture and trained at Tokyo Zokei University. Now he attends Tokyo University of Arts Graduate School, working on painting projects. He was awarded the Future Prize for the Turner Award in 2013, the Hisashi Tenmyoya Prize in the Tama Art Competition, secured a place in Tokyo Wonder Wall in 2014 and received the Second CAF prize in 2015. This is his first solo exhibition in 18 months.
