Tadaaki Kuwayama
New York-based Takaaki Kuwayama’s first solo exhibition at the gallery will feature his latest installation. Since moving to New York in 1958, Kuwayama has produced work with a reductionist bent. With an exhibition in 1961 at the Green Gallery in New York, he has been regarded as a leading figure in the American minimal art movement. Over his career, Kuwayama has transitioned from working in acrylics in the 60s, to metallic paint in the 70s, to oil in the 80s, until landing on works that are part of the space themselves. His latest installation consists of plywood covered in bakelite and painted with metallic paint.
