Artists

Naha Kanie, Akane Nakajima
Contemporary poet Naha Kanie and painter Akane Nakajima work respectively on poetry and painting - their media of choice - but in recent years they have also have been participating in the creation of video works, performances and other pieces.
In this exhibition, Naha and Nakajima will attempt to display the “preparation process itself of the two artists’ collaboration,” presenting sites, siutations and instances where “poetry” and “painting” interact with each other. An example of their previous collaborations can be seen with poetry collections such as “Yoisareta Shokutaku (The Laid Table)” (2015), awarded the 2016 Nakahara Chuya Prize and featuring Naha’s poetry and Nakajima’s book-cover design, “Uma Hiku Otoko (The Man Pulling Horse)” (2016), and “IC” (2017). Here they will explore a new type of collaboration through their first ever exhibition together.
