This exhibition serves as a benefit for the wide range of XYZ Collective activities. Artists have been invited to create the works on sale. In Japan, spaces such as XYZ Collective – not entirely a commercial gallery, not exactly an artist-run-space – are quite rare and difficult to maintain. Yet XYZ Collective has managed to further interest in their aesthetic through projects such as the curated show “Kiss in Tears” with Freedman Fitzpatrick in Los Angeles, a show with the Los Angeles-based artist Puppies Puppies, an exhibit by the Tokyo-based artist Maki Katayama, and another by Norway’s Ida Ekblad. XYZ Collective participated in a project booth at Nada Art Fair at Miami Beach and has been awarded the Aspen Insurance project grant from Nada. Also, this year they will participate the in Paris Intenationale, continuing to always bring new contemporary ideas to an international stage.
