This event has ended.

Currently based in New York, Aono attracts attention with advanced sculpting techniques that create minutely detailed works from materials such as stone, wood, and metal while adding experimental approaches including burning or cutting. His solo exhibition in Japan features his newest work, “Sculpture of Liberty,” a stone sculpture he carefully carved and polished into an elaborate life-sized self-portrait before destroying it by bringing it crashing to the ground. Pieces of the broken sculpture and video showing the moment of collapse are on display.
