Artists

Takehisa Yumeji
Tokyo’s Chiyoda area is one of the centers of Japan’s publishing and printing industries. Chiyoda-based publishing house Ryuseikaku is known for reviving the works of artist Yumeji Takehisa in the post-war period. This exhibition displays over 500 of Takehisa’s works, including original illustrations from Takehisa’s autobiographical novel, exhibited publicly for the first time. These works come from Ryuseikaku founder Ishiro Sawada’s collection of more than 1200 works by Takehisa in a show commemorating their donation to Chiyoda Ward.
