5 Rooms is a group exhibition that uses the Kanagawa Prefectural Gallery’s five unique exhibition spaces to introduce the world to one-of-a-kind art installations and other works of contemporary art. This is the second 5 Rooms exhibition, and its theme is “The Truth is in the Air.”

Important things that can’t be seen with the eyes, but are surely there: Subtle changes in emotion. The cycle of life and death. Traces of something that once was. The feeling that something is beautiful. There are some things that can only be understood by intuition. When we try to put them into words, their true nature slips away. We can only feel them in the air. This exhibition uses art as a medium to search for those invisible yet essential truths that hide behind the reality right in front of us. In the same way that metal is extracted from its ore to produce a purer substance, the artists featured in this exhibition have extracted and concentrated these invisible truths and made them into works of art.
