This event has ended.

Houxo Que has a background in graffiti and street murals. Recently the artist’s broadening portfolio of contemporary artwork has focused on the painting series “16,777,216view,” which applies fluorescent lights directly to displays. Houxo Que’s frequent emphasis on the importance of light reflects how often the light our eyes see in contemporary society is emitted by displays. The new series “apple” boldly portrays how devices such as iPhones and iPads have become inseparable parts of our lives today. Symbolizing contemporary society connecting opposite ends of the world in real time through the internet, these works place the viewer in the ambivalent situation of both seeing and being seen.
